The recent Palisades, Eaton, and various other small fires were ignited by a historical night of record-setting strong winds blowing ambers and causing destruction that has never been seen before. Together, these fires burned more than 40,000 acres, burning for about four weeks and, and leaving a trail of devastation and destruction. The natural disaster was intense, leaving many residents displaced, many without a home to return to, and many who still aren't able to go back to their homes. As of this, many people are in desperate need of help to recover from these devastating fires.
While the donation deadline for Neuwirth’s Environmental Action Club has passed, there are still many opportunities to assist those in need. If you wish to donate, here are a couple of ways to help these displaced residents:
Note: Many organizations are not accepting food and clothing due to the vast amount they have already received. However, you can still donate a sum of money or volunteer your time.
FRIENDS IN DEED ◊FRIENDS IN DEED has been helping by Accepting Volunteers to help distribute food to those in need and providing shelter for those in need as well.
DreamCenter: Dream Center Provides donated resources for anyone who needs help.
California Fire Foundation: The California Fire Foundation, if donated, will help support the families of firefighters, firefighters who have fallen, and the affected community.
California Community Foundation: The California Community Foundation collects and donates your donations to a non-profit organization. Such as the donation of $15 million to 100 non-profit organizations in Altadena to help those affected recover.
World Central Kitchen: The World Central has been helping distribute food to those who have been affected by the fire. They are asking for donations to continue providing for people who are affected by these fires. As well as looking for volunteers to help distribute food.
Some other places that you donate to are the Red Cross, which provides food, shelter, and mental help, and The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, which has been providing those in need with food.

You might be wondering what these donations will do, and it’s a fair question. These contributions are significant as they will help fund essential resources and support for those in need, making a huge impact where help is needed most. Whether it's providing food, shelter, or even daycare for animals or children, these donations go directly to improving lives and creating opportunities for a better future. Brea Burkholz, a spokesperson of Direct Relief, which is a non-profit that provides medical resources for disaster recovery “If you can make a direct connection to a family who is in need, that is a much better approach, because you know exactly who it’s going to and there’s a place for it,” Burkholz said. “A lot of these people who have been displaced, they don’t have a space. They don’t have a home”.
Your generosity has the power to make a lasting difference, offering hope and support to individuals and communities facing difficult circumstances. Anything will help, even if it's a small donation. So please donate what you can.
